Please read the instructions provided in the previous post.
All you need to do is create a new folder in /wp-content/themes/.
Then you create a stylesheet with the data listed in the tutorial.Next, you should copy over “/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default/groups/groups-loop.php” to your new theme, maintaining the directory…[Read more]

The answer to your first question is “yes”. The answer to your second question is “maybe”. I think I’ve covered the majority of the display names, but if you encounter any from other BP plugins, let me know.

gibbyesl – I don’t understand your question. Can you rephrase it?

I could do this… but you’re right I’d rather push this in a future release.

If you make changes to the default BP theme, you should create a child theme so your changes will not be overwritten when you upgrade BP.

Looks like we have three votes (including me) to show the display name on the member’s profile page? Any objections? If not, I’ll add this to the next point release, as well as bundling the files so you can overwrite the core files. Also, intimez and gregfielding, when commenting out that line if you notice […]

@intimez – Great catch. D’oh another stupid mistake on my part! Will do! Thanks.
The ticks are needed to render the code tag properly for the readme.txt… I’ll see if there’s a better way.
Maybe I should include these files to save everyone some headaches?

I didn’t turn off PMs; I’m guessing Andy did.
However, I will have a plugin to limit PMs for friends only out in the next few hours! 🙂

Great! Much needed too! Can the admin message to anyone?

Only other thing I could think off. Maybe for a future release.. tag certain members so they can message anyone. For example staff members that aren’t admins.

Doesn’t something like this already exist?
Secure Invites for WPMU (not standard WP)
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordpress-mu-secure-invites/There should be other similar types of plugins as well.
Just do a search in the WP plugin repository.

You’ll have to write some RewriteRules in your .htaccess file.
Try something like this:
RedirectMatch 301 ^/members/(.*)$ http://example.com/$1Change example.com to your domain.

No problem! For more on internal settings you can change, check out this article:

Thanks a lot for the complete set of codes. Just a small questions, once I’ve activated the root profiles, all the old updates still showing the older profiles. Anywhere I can modify it. The new status updates shows the new profiles. Thanks in advance!

I think this makes sense as well; I’m thinking of getting rid of this in the next point release. I just need to figure out if this filter I’m hooking into is used anywhere else in the default BP theme. Again let me know if you spot a display name! Off-topic: I feel sorry for […]

@dwenaus – Good question regarding script timing out. Not sure! Here’s something I found on Stackoverflow that answers the question somewhat. Though I hope not all your 8000+ users will enable digests 😉 Just wanted to say that the plugin looks and functions fantastic! I got to do more tests, but it’s a definite […]

And you’re complaining why? Tell me a popular browser that doesn’t support javascript? I think your concern is rather silly.
For those users that have it turned off! (yup a small minority, but still!)
That’s a weak argument. Sorry, but it is.
Web design should push as much as possible to the client side, aka javascript. You got a large suite of features with Jquery/ajax and javascript. Few people will run a browser without it now.
Next you’ll be saying frames are good? LOL.
Sorry if I sound harsh, but to ignore a huge problem with…[Read more]

This nested post is nice. I like the look & feel.
Show me a better solution to solve this annoying reg spam bot issue and I’ll be happy to listen. But this is the best method I’ve used bar none. One could inject a noscript element tag if they were passionate about losing javascript disabled browsers, but I’m not that interested in designing…[Read more]

Math challenge is easy to bypass.
Custom question is as good as the first time you see it.
The proposed solution here works. You can’t hack it with the traditional tools. You just can’t. Hence why I think it is superior to anything else I’ve found. You can argue ( or opinion-ate) all you want, but my solution solves the problem and you can’t…[Read more]
Whatever works for you is fine. I’ve never resorted to javascript.
