@boonebgorges @boonebgorges Boone, I’m looking for a quick code edit to make the default activity stream show “show updates” and not “no filter”… I’m not a coder but can manipulate files and make edits if someone posts them. @r-a-y pointed me to this post, but I can’t figure out how to do what I want… if you have a quick second to explain…[Read more]

@r-a-y — on the .htaccess file I have the following – is it not correct?: RewriteEngine On RewriteBase /main/ #uploaded files RewriteRule ^(.*/)?files/$ index.php RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !.*wp-content/plugins.* RewriteRule ^(.*/)?files/(.*) wp-content/ms-files.php?file=$2 # add a trailing slash to /wp-admin RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI}…[Read more]

@r-a-y – thank you very much for the info. I checked and double-checked but it appears everything is correct as per the instruction link. Any other ideas??? I can’t seem to get any images to show up.

@hnla @finni3 @techguy @r-a-y @boonebgorges @LPH2005 @mercime Point take, @hnla. It’s been a log day of coding. I average 85 hour work weeks. I’m willing to help with the span control promlem. But it’s going to take some core commits. Thanks! ^F^’ EDIT: I was tire, I was annoyed about spam because it’s causing big problems at two sites I run, and I […]

@r-a-y Hey Ray… I would love to talk to you about a consulting project if you are interested.
Saw some of your work on easyoutsource.com and really like your passion for BP.

I agree! It has been a long process and Iām ready for it to be over. But, as @r-a-y states below, BuddyPress as well as my Privacy Component are free. That is one reason why development can sometimes take awhile. If I were getting paid to do this, I would have had it out the door a long time ago. Of course, there was nothing stopping someone e…[Read more]

Is it possible to download bp-authz? I followed the link and it appears that you have removed it. I may have been looking at the wrong page, though.
-
That is correct. The link to the original version that worked very well under BP 1.1.3 has been removed. There is no new download link. I will be releasing the next version very soon after I’m done testing it with BP 1.2.5 and WP 3.0.

@r-a-y Not sure what you did r-a-y but it’s done the trick. I can confirm it works on a WP single install and BP 1.2.5 with BP Followers enabled. The previous symptoms have gone away! Thanks again!

I can actually replicate this pretty consistantly, I’ve even replicated it without have having the check for “logged in users”. @r-a-y BP 1.2.5 WP 3.0 W3 Total Cache 8.5.2

@r-a-y Thanks so much! Your usernames plugin is absolutely integral to my site so if one has to go it can’t be yours! Would love to be able to use both so really do appreciate your work! Thanks again! š

@r-a-y Ahh right I’m using a single install WP 3.0 with BP 1.2.5 and the latest versions of BP follow and usernames only. Keep me posted but the scenario above is definately the cause. Not sure if it’s your’s or the BP follow plugin that needs changing though. Let me know how you get on and […]

@r-a-y that is 100% the issue here. Just logged on as a regular user, followed someone and then the identifiers all reverted to that users name who I was following.

rossagrant posted on the forum topic Blue @ link lists incorrect name. in the group How-To and Troubleshooting: 14 years, 5 months ago
@r-a-y AHA!!! If I stop following anyone then it remedies itself too. If I follow someone then the identifier displays the name of the last person I followed. Can you try it?

@r-a-y how very bizarre. It goes away when i deactivate BP Follow. Think it might only be happening on admin’s account as at the minute my site isn’t live and admin is the only user who is following people. None of the other members are following anyone, they are only being followed. Will test and report […]

@r-a-y
Hahaha, GOT IT! It’s the BP Follow plugin. Only happens when it’s active and only when I’m logged in as admin. Do you have it active on your install? -
rossagrant posted on the forum topic Blue @ link lists incorrect name. in the group How-To and Troubleshooting: 14 years, 5 months ago
@r-a-y sorry to bombard you with messages. To recreate this what I have to do is log in as another user and then go into the members directory. I click on a few members and click on the ? to view the identifier on a few profiles. I then log out. When I log back in […]

@r-a-y Just to let you know that I am using the other bit of code you supplied to show ONLY usernames even on a profile page. Not sure if that plays a part. The identifiers are fine when I log in as a user but it’s just as admin when they are wrong. Can anyone else […]

rossagrant posted on the forum topic Blue @ link lists incorrect name. in the group How-To and Troubleshooting: 14 years, 5 months ago
@r-a-y yeah it’s no big deal. Only admin can see that so it’s not a worry. I’m still getting the wrong identifier when logged in as admin. It’s odd as sometimes it displays the correct one for someone but then keeps that username for the rest. I’ll deactivate other plugins and see what happens. Will keep […]

You basically add Boone’s snippet into your theme’s functions.php file. Give it a shot and see what happens.
Ray, I’m assuming you mean this code:
function blog_posts_by_default( $query_string ) {
global $bp;
if ( !$query_string )
$query_string = '';
if ( ($bp->current_component == BP_ACTIVITY_SLUG || !$bp->current_component) ) {
if ( strpos( $query_string, 'action' ) == 0 )
$query_string .= '&type=activity_update&action=activity_update';
}
return…[Read more]
You don’t need to change anything since “activity_update” equates to “Show Updates”. Throw it anywhere in functions.php and see what happens!
Btw, thanks for the nice comment!
