| WordPress Origin Story | It all started in college when I first explored programming with Visual Basic for my thesis. That project sparked my passion for development and led me to create a custom restaurant booking system using PHP and MySQL for my final thesis, opening my eyes to the potential of web development. In the early years of my career, I worked with Joomla, creating websites for clients. While Joomla was good, it felt bloated at times. Then, in 2009, I took on a freelance WordPress project. Immediately, I realized the platform’s ease of use, flexibility, and powerful hooks for customization. I was hooked, figuratively of course :D. WordPress quickly became my platform of choice, offering scalability, a vast plugin library, and a supportive developer community. Looking back at my journey from Visual Basic to PHP, Joomla, and finally WordPress, I’m grateful for how it’s shaped my career. WordPress isn’t just a tool, it’s the foundation of my work now, and it continues to drive my growth as a developer. |
