3. The group admin can invite friends to join their group.
To invite members that are not friends of the group admin, use this plugin:
In reply to: BP Profile Search – don't show members directoryIn your-theme/members/index.php
find and delete this div:
`div class=”item-list-tabs” role=”navigation”`
And please don’t double post.
In reply to: Buddypress wont display local avatarsAre the dir permissions and owner the same on both the test and live sites ?
In wp-admin/admin.php?page=bp-settings do you have this checked: “Allow registered members to upload avatars” ?
Have you tried to change an avatar and did it appear in the expected dir ?
In reply to: Buddypress wont display local avatarsCall you call an avatar directly in a browser ?
Something like:

Do you know how to use apply_filters ?
If so, see this:`
$tabs = apply_filters( ‘xprofile_filter_profile_group_tabs’, $tabs, $groups, $group_name );`in bp_profile_group_tabs() in /bp-xprofile/ -> bp-xprofile-template.php
In reply to: BP Profile Search – don't show members directoryDo you have a /members page?
Is that where you put the BP profile search shortcode?If yes and yes, then
> However the results give two columns
By columns, you mean tabs.
afaik, they are standard to the /members page.If you don’t want a /members page but you do want a profile search results page, you’ll need to know how to rewrite part of the plugin. Or ask the plugin author.
You can remove the “All Members” tab, but that may have negative consequences as it is the default tab and may trigger the bp_has_members( bp_ajax_querystring( ‘members’ ) ) call.
In reply to: Getting 310 error. Too many redirects. URGENT!What does your htaccess file say ?
In reply to: Add tab & screen function to Groups DirectoryThat would be a very handy improvement.
I assume / hope it would apply to all theme directory index files, like /groups/, /members/Let me know if I can help to test or try to break a patch.
In reply to: Add tab & screen function to Groups DirectoryThx modemlooper, but I know all that and have used it before.
>then you use to display a page based on the slug
Hmmm, the whole point is not to load a new page but to use the same approach as
All Groups and My Groups.
So, load some content based on an ajax call – which I’ve also done before but not in this context, without using bp_core_new_subnav_item or bp_core_new_nav_item.
I was hoping there was some way to just add a new li id and handle it from there.I’ll keep digging and post updates here.
Thanks for your input.In reply to: Add tab & screen function to Groups Directory@modemlooper
Ok, tried using the Group Extension Api.
But it seems to only apply to single groups… ?
Which is what this does… https://gist.github.com/4531952Any suggestions on how to point a li tab created in bp-default/groups/index.php to a function ?
I hope it doesn’t involve creation of a new component.In reply to: New filter request for bp_is_single_activity()Did you try using the existing filter for the function that calls bp_is_single_activity() ?
bp-core-template.php ->
bp_get_the_body_class ->
return apply_filters( ‘bp_get_the_body_class’, $classes, $bp_classes, $wp_classes, $custom_classes );btw- what version of BP are you using?
/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-core.php hasn’t existed for quite awhileIn reply to: Add tab & screen function to Groups DirectoryThx modemlooper.
I’ve used that api many times and it’s great.
Just being lazy. Funny how that often takes longer.In reply to: Add tab & screen function to Groups DirectorySo too dumb a question ?
Just wondering if there is an easy way than, for instance, using group extension api.
In reply to: Calcuate Age on Member-loop.php?You’re sure that $dob is being returned correctly ?
Then try this right in the loop:`
$dob = xprofile_get_field_data($birthdate, bp_get_member_user_id());
$birthdate = explode(” “, $dob);
$birthdate = birthdate[0];
$birthDate = explode(“/”, $birthDate);
//get age from birthdate
$age = (date(“md”, date(“U”, mktime(0, 0, 0, $birthDate[1], $birthDate[2], $birthDate[0]))) > date(“md”) ? ((date(“Y”)-$birthDate[0])-1):(date(“Y”)-$birthDate[0]));
echo “Age is:”.$age;`There is lots of google info available re php datetime -> age

In reply to: [Resolved] Show Group Member List on Group DirectoryUse:
$bio = xprofile_get_field_data( ‘field=Biography’, $member_id );
echo $bio; // may not need to echoGrab the $member_id from the members loop, maybe bp_get_member_user_id() ?
In reply to: [Resolved] Show Group Member List on Group DirectoryUntested but try http://pastebin.com/BVTHyuEL

edit: too late, but same solution you came up with… congrats
It should work, from codex page, without the bp_get_group_id() call.
Made a note on that page.
]In reply to: [Resolved] Show Group Member List on Group DirectoryYou don’t say where you tried to use bp_group_has_members().
In a function you probably need a global or two, at least global $bp;
Try hard coding a group_id into your bp_group_has_members() call.
If that works, then you have to dig around and find the right globals and calls to make.
( maybe bp_get_current_group_id() ? )If it doesn’t work, there could be an issue with your setup or maybe you can’t use multiple
bp_group_has_members calls in the same parent loop.
According to the codex, the latter shouldn’t be an issue, but… ?
https://codex.buddypress.org/developer/developer-docs/loops-reference/the-group-members-loop-bp_group_has_members/
“The ID of the group to fetch members for. Required when… not nested within a bp_has_groups() loop.In reply to: [Resolved] Show Group Member List on Group DirectoryIn theme/groups/groups-loop.php there is a hook you can use:
do_action( ‘bp_directory_groups_item’ );Use it to call a function that loops thru the members for that group.
In reply to: 1.6.2 ajax-loader imghere’s the code in question
`span class=”ajax-loader”></span`
“
In reply to: bp_group_request_commentSeems that it’s some legacy code.
In reply to: Collecting Activity ids and displaying them?>a page where my users can be curators and have collections of custom posts
CPs that they created ? Or created by anyone ?
Usually a profile extension is used for this.
But you say ‘outside of buddypress’ so you mean a WP page… ?
Then, because you want it driven by activity_ids, write a custom query.
Use each activity_id to find the user_id in the activity table, look for posts by that member in the posts table and show the results in a loop.
Use 2 queries if you can’t write a JOIN.In reply to: Collecting Activity ids and displaying them?Yes.
Where would your second loop live ?
