About Me | I originally created this WP.org account in 2006 with the pseudonym Starbuck, which I use around the internet, along with CaptainStarbuck. Now that I’m doing a lot more work with WordPress in a serious business capacity, I figured it’s time to put my real name onto my posts. I’m not actually a “web developer”. I’m a small business owner and professional developer of communications and business software. I just happen to use WP in my toolkit, more and more… |

WordPress Origin Story | Originally to me WP was just a blog of course. As I started looking to integrate forum software, wiki, and other applications I came to find in the last few years that it’s now a full CMS. I tried Drupal, ModX, and a couple others but never felt quite comfortable. With WP I feel at home. So now every time I get an idea for a website I slap up a new subdomain for testing and load up a new instance of WP. I’ve become a member of WPMU DEV and participate in a number of WP communities. I’ve also started to contribute code fixes and enhancements to common plugins, I have plugins of my own just for my sites, and I provide whatever support I can to fellow plugin users. I also do what I can to contribute comments and requests for core, in GitHub or Slack, sometimes actual changes when I can. I try to give back and pay-forward whenever possible for all of this great freeware. It’s an evolution. It feels good. |
