BuddyPress should have Extended Profiles enabled so the Courseware can work.
Use the BuddyPress options panel.

By debug mode you mean?
Try installing plain BuddyPress with Courseware. Or disable bbPress.

Search what?
Courseware search is integrated in BuddyPress search, except lectures probably.
