    It seems to be working on my end with the latest versions of Firefox, IE, Chrome, and Opera. Are you still experiencing this problem?

    I suppose it’s because Facebook, in many ways, does things right. I’m not on board with having a FB copy by any means, but some of their features are nice. Though I think many of those features should be left to plugins rather than being in core.

    That works to add a tab, but I think the idea here is to show posts within the author’s BuddyPress profile.

    @rimoreno, I’m not sure if you’re willing to pay — especially since you just want one feature — but WP User Frontend allows something similar to this if you build a registration form (the free version doesn’t have the feature). The plugin might be useful to you for other reasons as well. I’ve been using it and I’m really happy with it:

    There is likely an easier and free method of doing so, though I don’t have the time to dig around at the moment. Hopefully someone else can chime in on that.

    While this may not fall into your category of ~$20, it seems like the best one that I’ve seen — if these are the types of features you need. It’s $30 for a membership, but you get access to all of the plugins on the site.

    BuddyPress Facebook Connect+ – Discontinued

    I cannot personally vouch for it, as I’ve never tried it. Seeing that it has the ability to import all sorts of Facebook data into your own BP fields looks great, though.

    Ah, so that’s the reason. The if statement will work. Something like:

    <?php if(is_front_page() ) { ?>
        <style type="text/css">
            div.nav-wrap {
                height: 300px;
            }
        </style>
    <?php } ?>

    Is this because you want it to be inline with the “Inspire. Act. Succeed,” headline? If so, you can do something like this:

    .nav-wrap h6 {
        position: absolute;
        margin-top: -45px;
    }

    Use “positon: relative;” if you want all of the letters to stay inside of the brown background.

    If you need to change the height of the nav-wrap only on the homepage, I think the best thing to do is to add the <style> tags in your homepage’s template and add higher priorities for your classes.

    The problem is most likely because you don’t have a loop-archive.php. What I did instead was change some of the code to suit what I had prior: an author.php file that was already styled the way I wanted.

    In the plugin:

    function profile_screen_posts_show() {
    $theuser = bp_displayed_user_id();
    query_posts("author=$theuser" );
    if ( have_posts() ) :
    get_template_part( 'loop', 'archive' );
    else: ?>
    <div id="message" class="info">
    		<p><?php _e( 'Sorry, this user has not published any posts.', 'buddypress' ); ?></p>
    	</div><?php endif; ?>    <?php
    }

    I changed it to:

    function profile_screen_posts_show() {
    query_posts( 'author=' . bp_displayed_user_id() );
    	if ( have_posts() ) :
    	get_template_part( 'author' );
    else: ?>
    	<div id="message" class="info">
    		<p><?php bp_displayed_user_username(); ?> has not published any articles or reviews. Want them to? Send a message or leave a wall post!</p>
    	</div>
        <?php endif; ?>    <?php
    }

    You’ll see in there: get_template_part( ‘author’ );
    — change “author” to whichever template part you want to call. Most installs, I believe, will have an archive.php file, so use archive.

    Curious to see that @puggy! It seems that most ESO fansites I’ve seen are using WordPress — and for great reason, though none pull it off as well as Tamriel Foundry does, if I’m being completely honest. When I created TESOF, I originally intended it to be just a forum, so it was quite a bit of hassle to create certain sections based off of the MyBB forum software itself.

    Since Curse, Inc. now owns TESOF, I won’t be taking part in much of the development, but I am making a new project based off of the WordPress/BuddyPress/bbPress combo (unrelated to ESO), and it’s coming along nicely. You can see most of that development on my personal blog. Most of my posts for the last few months are about the new project.

    Annnnd, that’s enough of me hijacking @aaclayton’s topic. Keep up the good work with TF, you guys are really flourishing!

    Here’s to the Elder Scrolls Online. *Takes a drink*

    Looks like a great plugin! I’ll give it a whirl over the next few days.

    EDIT: Read that completely wrong.

    After reading the Codex, you should create a template specifically for that section (copy+paste the template it’s currently using and then edit).

    From what I see, it’s using this:

    .home #content

    In which the width is too narrow. The .home class is being appended to your <body> on that page. The other page is working fine, because it takes its CSS directly from #content.

    I replied to you on bbPress.org, but it’s the same answer. The only thing is that BuddyPress is the social network aspect of the plugins whereas bbPress is the forum. You can install both onto your WordPress install and they will take the style of your WordPress theme.

    Actually, yeah. It had fixed itself for a bit but I’m getting the same thing as @bphelp. It also shows me as logged out when viewing the topic list, but it’s fine when reading topics.

    This was happening to me for the longest time on here and bbPress.org, but it seems to have fixed itself now. It was always fine on WordPress.org.

    I’m sorry to hear that your designer did that to you, @sna2009. @bphelp pretty much covered it, so I won’t go into that. I will say, however, that keep up this attitude and you’ll go far. I don’t know many people that are actually willing to learn all of this, and seeing that you’re completely new and want to get the job done — it’s commendable.

    Keep it up, read those books, read the Codex. The best way to learn aside from those, in my opinion, is to jump into the coding and design and use the “trial and error” method. Work on one thing at a time, learn how to do it, then move onto the next. You’ll learn quickly that way while using references such as your books and Google. Never doubt the power of what Google can find for you.

    Have a good one, and good luck!

    You can download a plugin like Theme My Login — it automatically redirects logged out/non-registered users to a log-in page with your site’s style.

    You can make your own. Here’s mine as an example. You’ll need to tinker around with the CSS or code if you’d like to display them differently. What the below does is it shows a number (the amount of notifications you have) when you have one or more. It is hidden when there are none to display. Hovering over the number will display your notifications in a drop-down.

    Place into bp-custom.php:

    /**
    * Add Notification number to template
    */
    function my_bp_adminbar_notifications_menu() {
    global $bp;

    if ( !is_user_logged_in() )
        return false;

    echo '<div class="notices"><ul class="notices">';
    _e( '', 'buddypress' );

    if ( $notifications = bp_core_get_notifications_for_user( $bp->loggedin_user->id ) ) { ?>
        <li class="parent"><span class="notice-badge"><?php echo count( $notifications ) ?></span>
    <?php
    }

    echo '</a>';
    echo '<ul class="sub-menu">';

    if ( $notifications ) {
        $counter = 0;
        for ( $i = 0; $i < count($notifications); $i++ ) {
            $alt = ( 0 == $counter % 2 ) ? ' class="alt"' : ''; ?>

            <li<?php echo $alt ?>><?php echo $notifications[$i] ?></li>

            <?php $counter++;
        }
    } else { ?>

        <li><a href="<?php echo $bp->loggedin_user->domain ?>"><?php _e( 'You have no new alerts.', 'buddypress' ); ?></a></li>

    <?php
    }

    echo '</ul></li>';
    echo '</ul></div>';
    }

    CSS:

    /*-------------------------- Notification dropdown -----------------------------------*/
    .notice-badge { font-weight: bold; cursor: default; background: #d33939; padding: 0 3px; border-radius: 10px }
    .parent.user-bar { width: 86px; text-align:left; float: right; font-weight: bold; }
    .notices { float: right; margin:0; line-height: 45px; z-index: 9999; }
    .notices a { color: #ffffff; }
    .notices ul, .notices { margin:0 2px 0 0; padding:0; list-style-type:none; list-style-position:outside; position:relative; }

    <?php my_bp_adminbar_notifications_menu()?>
