I downgraded to MAMP 1.9.6.1 and now it seems to work.

Hi there – here is the setup I am using:
OS X Lion 10.7
Wordpress 3.2.1
Buddypress 1.29
Mamp Pro 2.0.1I can install WordPress just fine as I always do, and the other local sites I have installed are running fine.
