In reply to: Change Avatar on mouseover like Facebook
this was meant for just one persons site, if you give me a link to your site i can adjust the css
In reply to: Change Avatar on mouseover like Facebook@naijaping . Ok this is what i came up with based on your sites css.
go to your theme’s /member-header.php
find `
`replace it with this
`
<a href="profile/change-avatar/”>Change Picture
// change avatar
$(document).ready(function(){
$(“#item-header-avatar”).hover(function(){
$(“span”, this).stop().animate({top:”130px”},{queue:false,duration:200});
}, function() {
$(“span”, this).stop().animate({top:”160px”},{queue:false,duration:200});
});
});`
You could also remove the inline css and place this inside your css file :
`#item-header-avatar {
float: left;
height: 150px;
overflow: hidden;
padding-right: 20px;
width: 150px;
}
#item-header-avatar span {
background: none repeat scroll 0 0 #FFFFFF;
font-weight: bold;
left: 0;
padding: 4px 25px;
position: relative;
text-align: center;
top: 150px;
z-index: 10000;
}`In reply to: Change Avatar on mouseover like Facebookit looks like they wrote the code themselves. If you know a little about jquery and bp codex you could just right a simple function to perform this.
give me a link to your site, and i’ll try to right the function for you or you could tell me what the css width/height/margin/padding of your item-header-avatar.
In reply to: Change Avatar on mouseover like Facebookare you talking about facebook profile pages? how the “change picture” link shows onmouseover?
In reply to: how to have comment and replies collapse and expand.What gallery plugin do you have installed @Aliceembroid?
I’m going to set up a test bp site, to test the new plugin, i’ll install them both and try to figure out the issue.@opatachibueze , I don’t see a problem with the posts content in the activity stream. Maybe you could give more detail on the topic.
In reply to: how to have comment and replies collapse and expand.Yea, I would but im working on multiple projects at the moment and nonetheless unfamiliar with bp codex. I mainly work with social networks api’s. (also didn’t take me long to do, so I don’t feel it’s worth compensation)
Hmm, Im unsure alice, since I don’t have a buddypress site of my own. So Im not aware of the photo gallery plugin code.
I can suggest commenting out the jquery in the header.php and if the problem persists then it isn’t the code I supplied.comment code: stop the code from running
right after the start script tag
`<!–`
and right before the closing tag
`–>`*Edited
I looked over the bp codex and it’s quite simple, I’ll have a functioning plugin available sometime tomorrow.In reply to: how to have comment and replies collapse and expand.Glad it’s working for you now. Buddypress does seem to alter code a bit.
In reply to: how to have comment and replies collapse and expand.Sorry but I won’t be able to establish an accurate solution by just looking at the header and entry.php file. Once you have the site uploaded and publicly visible (meaning that im not redirected to a login page on every page of your site) I might be able to help.
In reply to: how to have comment and replies collapse and expand.I’m not sure why it’s not working correctly for you.
Without any error details to work with, I would need a link to your site to inspect the problem.In reply to: how to have comment and replies collapse and expand.In reply to: how to have comment and replies collapse and expand.Well i’ll definitely consider heading that way one day, but i’ll be long past 21 before i do.
wow i asked this question 4 months ago…. and no response.
Good thing i figured this out on my own..
In reply to: how to have comment and replies collapse and expand.Thanks, im not quite 21 yet but i definitely appreciate the gesture.
In reply to: how to have comment and replies collapse and expand.Ok I added the new code, let me know if it’s working properly .
In reply to: how to have comment and replies collapse and expand.ok alice did you back up your header.php and entry.php files? Before i replace the old code i would like for you to undo all the changes. If you need any help just let me know.
In reply to: how to have comment and replies collapse and expand.well, i had it working… then i went to pick up some food, and my computer died.. i broke my own rule. Save your files……
I’ll have it working sometime tomorrow after i rewrite the code, sorry for the delay
In reply to: how to have comment and replies collapse and expand.Yea, that’s what i mention before it has something to do with buddypress.
Ok well most of the easter stuff has passed, so ill try to work on a fix asap.and thanks alice.
In reply to: how to have comment and replies collapse and expand.Hi @janismo , the typing mistake you mentioned was done by buddpress. because i did not include a space between the opening and closing tag it defaulted to a greater than entity, which is odd.

It’s still using an html entity at end of the script tag, i guess because there is a url within the script.Thank you for calling the load more button to my attention, I will have to add another jquery action if it is clicked upon, but It might be tomorrow because its easter sunday.
In reply to: how to have comment and replies collapse and expand.that jquery code i supplied allows a “show comments” option only if the activity has comments, if the activity does not have comments it will show nothing.
but i understand what you are saying, just replace:
`Show Comments`
with this:
`Show Comments ()`In reply to: how to have comment and replies collapse and expand.Glad its working now alice, and i think the css isn’t needed, but if you want to test it -> wp-content-> themes -> bp-columns ->custom.css
What i usually do is scroll down to the very bottom and type this
`/* Custom Modifications */`
then my css code, to keep it separate from the default csswhere would you like to show the comments? Buddypress does this by default for logged in user via the reply link : reply(#comments).
In reply to: how to have comment and replies collapse and expand.thanks @janismo, and you’re correct. If you have a child theme then it would be best to post to those files.
I forgot about child themes when i took on this test. definitely something i should remember.In reply to: how to have comment and replies collapse and expand.ok, break out notepad++ or any text editor and make back ups these two files:
– /wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default/activity/entry.php
-/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default/header.phpadd this to your header.php file within the head section :
``
now locate entry.php and replace : `
In reply to: how to have comment and replies collapse and expand.give me about an hour and i can get this working for you
with this code :
`
$(document).ready(function(){
$(“li#activity- div.activity-comments ul”).hide();
$(“li#activity- a.acomment-reply”).click(function(){
if ( $(“p.collapse-“).css(“display”) == ‘none’ ){
$(“p.expand-, p.collapse-, li#activity- div.activity-comments ul”).toggle(100);
}
return true;
});
$(“p.expand- a”).click(function(){
$(“p.expand-, p.collapse-, li#activity- div.activity-comments ul”).toggle(100);
return false;
});
$(“p.collapse- a”).click(function(){
$(“p.expand-, p.collapse-, li#activity- div.activity-comments ul”).toggle(100);
return false;
});
$(“li#activity- input[name=ac_form_submit]”).click(function(){
if ( $(“p.collapse-“).css(“display”) == ‘none’ ){
$(“p.expand-, p.collapse-, li#activity- div.activity-comments ul”).toggle(100);
}
return true;
});
});
<p class="expand-“>Show Comments
<p style="display:none" class="collapse-“>Hide Comments
heres a little css to work with:
`.expandable {
-moz-border-radius: 5px 5px 5px 5px;
-webkit-border-radius: 5px 5px 5px 5px;
background: none repeat scroll 0 0 #F4F6F8;
border: 1px solid #EEEEEE;
margin-bottom: 2px;
text-align: center;
text-shadow: 1px 1px 1px #FFFFFF;
}
.expandable p {
margin: 0px;
}`
remember to always back up your files, hopefully someone makes a plugin with this functionality so we can stop messing with the core of buddypress.
*Can’t believe that took me 5 hours lol
