About Me

Long time web developer (too long, really). Was in the room at the conference where Sun Microsystems formally announced itself to the world. Yeah, that long ago.

Started up a company in 1987 that envisioned a unique product serving a specific vertical industry. While that effort did not succeed, my team and I would later learn that the world would come to call such a product a “web browser.” We were a bit ahead of our time — the VCs had no idea of how to get their arms around it.

Fast-forward to the present and I find myself simply enjoying the ability to create highly functional community-centric platforms targeting specific markets.

WordPress Origin Story

Tinkered with WordPress to effect a minor change, way back in early 2011. It’s full effect escaped me at that time.

Recently, I went searching for the “right” kind of lightweight CMS that also provided serious community capabilities, and voila… I rediscovered WordPress, the “Lego System” for web developers who just want to get things done by Friday.
