@hnla you’re right. I’m sorry for posting that here. Called the hosting support and got the problem fixed. Vaultpress doesn’t back up WP core files. This has definitely be a learning lesson. Thank you both for helping.
@djsteveb – thanks again for your input. I panicked and reverted the update… went back to WP 3.8.5. The front end is now working fine, but I just discovered another big issue just now. I went into FTP, wanting to change my homepage. When I went into the custom community theme folder (my active theme), the folder appears empty. When I try to restore the files, they would start uploading and then disappear again. I looked at the file attributes of the folder, and it’s set different than my other theme folders. When I tried to change it, it says permission denied.
I have a backup service and the backups still have all the files. When I go into dashboard editor, it says “Oops, no such file exists!”. What do I need to do at this point to restore the site properly?
Thanks djsteveb. So after I ran into this problem, I also updated my test site with similar setup. That ran fine at 4.0.1 with custom community theme and same plugins without errors. I’m just not sure what is causing the problems at this point.
Hi, thanks. I did think about just using private messages, but the user and admin would have to have the ability to upload pics. I would use a plugin to enable picture uploads, but is there a way to restrict posting of pictures to only designated members? I’m using S2members to handle membership restrictions/capabilities. I wonder if I can use S2members to restrict posting of pictures.
