1.1.2 bug: double-byte characters in post url turned to mess code

I’ve just upgrade my BuddyPress/WPMU from 1.1.1/2.8.4a to 1.1.2/2.8.5.2, the upgrade went smoothly with no error popup.

But after that, a tricky bug was found with Site Wide Activity widget on home page, the URLs that contain double-byte characters and full mode punctuations (say, Chinese characters I’m using) somewhat messed up, and the links lead to page not found notification, I believe those links are all OK in 1.1.1.

This bug affects the Site Wide Activity widget on home page (so far I know, the Recent Site Wide Posts is not affected), Activity/Profile page under Account menu.

What is interesting is only one character is turned to mess code in every affected URL.

BTW, I have /%year%/%monthnum%/%day%/%postname%/ for permalink.

Yes, levin, hope the team could address the problem asap.

It seems buddypress is not well spread among mandarine users, I hardly can find a user group in mainland, how the things go in Taiwan?

i dont know taiwan, i’m from hong kong actually, and i believe my buddypress is alone in my place… anyway BP is growing fast and i bet on WP as well. Let’s sit tight and wait.

Thanks levinng’s support on this issue, the problem is solved for now, hope dev team could rollout an official solution in next release

I reopened and updated the ticket. Leave them open until one of us can confirm the issue is not a BuddyPress core problem.

andrepan and levin, please also check out other multi byte issues. You two seem to be fluent in programming, perhaps you can solve them.
