404 Errors with IIS Assistance

I’ve searched the forums and read a number of threads but cannot find a clear answer to this question.

I am updated with WordPress 4.0, BuddyPress 2.1.

I am running an internal BadgeOS/LearnDASH site on Windows IIS. I cannot change this.

To resolve the permalinks issue in IIS, “index.php” has been added to all permalinks per WordPress instructions. This fixes all of the links.

BuddyPress, when installed, does not display any user profile information, instead, all user profile links result in a 404 error. Even if I add index.php to the path, this only results in providing a fancy 404 screen instead of the basic one.

Without switching off of the Microsoft server, and without changing the permalink setting already established (which includes index.php), how can I resolve the 404 errors that result when trying to display profile information?

    Thanks much in advance.

  • What about any other links generated by BuddyPress content? For example, groups, activity stream, etc.

There is this https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/iis7-web-config/ but it was written about 4 years ago and the core team collectively do not use IIS at the moment. If you can help us figure out the correct config for BP on IIS, we can update the docs which would be wonderful. 🙂

I tried updating my web-config to match the link above, but it did not work. All of the Buddypress links in the profile generate 404 errors. It must be related to the permalinks issue in iis, but beyond that I don’t know. Do you know of any iis BuddyPress sites at all?
