A global inbox?

I’ve disabled the adminbar on my site.
And I have found the code to add links to and show number of new messages and friend requests.
But just now I found that I also have to add link and number for group invites and group membership requests.
So is it possible to combine all these together, having a global inbox for all the messages, mentions, requests and invites, and display the total number of all these?
I see that the default adminbar have the “notification” menu, but it just drops a list of items linking to different pages. I would prefer all these notifications be stored in one place, from where users can reply/accept or reject.

It’s something I’ve thought about quite a bit. I might try building it into a theme I am working on or perhaps see if it could be considered for an enhancement for BuddyPress 1.4. It is possible but would be a lot of work and so it is unlikely someone will give you a copy-and-paste answer
