Activity not working on single WordPress install 2.9.2 with BP1.2.1

Just install BP 1.2.1 on a single WordPress install 2.9.2 not MU with the new BP1.2 theme. The activity page doesn’t work (no updates) also under the member page when I try to post a new message I’m getting this error “There was a problem posting your update, please try again.”
Is it a permission issue somewhere? PHP or database settings?
