is there a way to control whats been displayed in the activity stream? right now it displays members registration, friendships, etc.. is there a way I can just stop member registration from showing up on the activity stream?
Thank you

Easiest way is using the BuddyPress Block Activity Stream Types plugin by Rich Fuller – https://buddypress.org/community/groups/buddypress-block-activity-stream-types/
@ARHistoryHub it doesnt seem to work with wp 3.1.1 and bp 1.2.8
Good question. This is on my list of things to work out myself. The default activity stream is cluttered up with a bunch of unnecessary information.
@Brooker Hmm, I’m running wp3.1.1/bp 1.2.8 and it seems to still be working fine. I’m blocking blog posts and new member registration without a problem. Obviously the plugin won’t continue to be supported and hasn’t been updated in some time.
@Brooker Maybe this could help you come up with something custom… http://blog.etiviti.com/2010/02/buddypress-hack-remove-new-member-registration-from-activity-stream/
It should work fine Are you using MultiSite? Also remember that previous entries will not be removed from the stream. only new ones
will there be a permanent solution for this?
@ARHistoryHub after activation the plugin is not showing in the site admin or the network admin… any ideas?
its not showing up here
http://img577.imageshack.us/img577/8950/adminkl.jpgok I manage to make it show up in the network admin by changing admin_menu to network_admin_menu to the add_action in the bp-activity-block-loader.php
so it loads now but when I click “save settings” I get kicked to the site admin dashboard and when I go back to the network admin and back to the activity block the settings dont seem to be saved…
Any idea what else need to be modified to get it to work?
HELP!!!@ARHistoryHub i have this plugin running but it doesn’t seem to work. what have you put in your blocked activity types?
ok changed the url in bp-activity-block-admin.php line 43 to /wp-admin/network/admin.php?page=bp-activity-block-settings now it seems to be saving the settings… now time to wait and see if it starts blocking….
Brooker, could you post up your results and if it works your actual setup? i’m also needing this to work for me.
@norby500 Currently I have this in the blocked activity field – “new_blog_post, new_member, deleted_group_document” Of course the plugin won’t retroactively remove content from the activity stream, it will only work to block new attempts to write those particular activities.
i see, is there going to be any kind of future built in option for this anyways?
@ARHistoryHub , mine doesn’t seem to work, i have the latest version running too on everything, that could be the problem though…it’s outdated now. i’d donate for a new plugin to be made like this.
@norby500 how much are you willing to donate for this plugin? maybe we partner up and hire someone? mine not working either…
@Brooker , i’m not really sure how much i’d need to put in really..it is a good idea we both put in to get this plugin made…perhaps if we agree to allow it to be distributed into the community aswell then the plugin will be even cheaper?
@Brooker , any news mate? would be interested in getting a plugin done for this
@norby500 my developer is busy until Thursday… so once he have some time I will get back at you!
How much would it cost, approx
@Brooker, cool man
it’s a shame this function isn’t already built into the core, think the activity stream needs a good update
