activity stream count in profile

Hello,
can anyone help how to get the number of activity updates by a given user and show it at their profile page like on Twitter or Instagram?
The question was asked years ago but no satisfactory answer was given.

It doesnt show the number of activity posts which I would also like to be displayed right next to the @username at the profile main page.
there is a function to get activity count but I cant make it work.
