Did you change the filter in your themes activity.php?
Example:

If so then after a page refresh they will only see they’re friends activity and not their own.
thanks for reply Shawn but I am not sure what I did I mean what filter may I have mess with which might have caused this and also it doesn’t have anything to do with page refresh, as soon as the subscriber types a post and hits post update, it just eats the post and it won’t show it but I as administrator have no problem with this. on my admin site everything works just fine.
Sounds like a rewrite problem with your .htaccess file on your server
Hi i came across this issue and found a solution for it.
# MY PROBLEM
# When posting a update from the activity stream, it wouldn’t show the post. The only thing that would show is my name and time that i posted the update.
# MY SOLUTION
# I done some checking and found that if you have Buddypress Media on your website and you have the setting set to YES!!! on your activity upload, change it to NO!!!! and it will work.
