Activity Stream – Reset activity filter when moving/coming back to/ another page

Hello everybody,
My client is complaining that when he filters the activity stream content (buddypress dropdown filter) and moves to any other page, as soon he gets back to the activity stream the filter is still active.
Same problem when a search in made, if there is a previous filter applied from the dropdown, the search results might give no content, which is ambiguous since actually there is the filter activated.
(Hope it makes sense!)
Thanks in advance if someone can give me a hint on how to solve this.
