Activity stream showing my posts as being very old

when I post a post on my blog it shows in the activity stream as being posted 11 years and 10 months old, where as updates on my profile are shown as being brand new… What have I done wrong

What version of BuddyPress are you using?

Have you tried changing the timezone settings in WordPress?

If you change your timezone settings, try posting a new blog post and see if the time is fixed in the stream.
