Add ‘About Me’ Field To Profile

Hello,
I’ve created my bp site and added loads of plug ins and everything is perfect EXCEPT for the fact that member profiles don’t have an ‘about me’ section.
How can I add as ‘about me’ section to user profiles? Does this depend on the theme I’m using?
