add link to Skype account to user profile

    I am looking for a way to allow my BuddyPress members to add a link to their Skype account as a field in their profile that other members can click to connect with them on Skype or even just invite to connect.

    Hello, you can take advantage of User Extended Profiles to collect Skype information from your users, like their username or whatever.

    thanks so much for the response. but I am not sure how to code it so that the member just has to input their Skype name in the field and the field then links to their skype profile on the Skype app. How to I set it up so that the html code that creates the link is behind the scenes?

    Boone wrote something that might be helpful: https://github.com/boonebgorges/bp-social-media-profiles/

    It automatically converts some social site links in extended profile fields into the right kind of link.
