Admin Avatar is fixed to Mystery Man Forever?

I tried to change my avatar(as admin) but the new image cannot be cropped. So I deleted my old avatar and uploaded a new image. It turned out I could not crop the image and it seems my avatar cannot be changed forever. How to address this(the same problem as Group avatar that the avatar cannot be cropped from the start) Thanks a lot.

Check the permissions and more importantly the ownership rights for the stuff in /blogs.dir/1/files/avatars/1

Everything from /wp-content down. Does your apache user have create rights in that dir chain? apache might be ‘nobody’ or ‘apache’ or something else entirely. Depends on your server setup.

Thanks a lot. I’ve done that but will recheck to make sure.

I have a similar problem, but this only occurs with Firefox 3.x and Opera, with Exploiter (IE) the Crop appears without problem and you can view the image and select you crop area.

I’m advocate to debug it, or if someone has the fix where can I download ?….

There is no “/1/files/avatars/1” inside blogs.dir..? i cannot also change my avatar as an admin..!!

    i get this message:

Upload Failed! Error was: Unable to create directory /home/vhosts/kuwaitbikers.com/var/www/html/wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files/avatars/1. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

I receive a JS error and the Crop box doesn’t appear. Pretty sure that’s your problem as well.

In another thread, one of the BP developers was saying they are aware and working on a fix for this. It’s an issue with several browsers at the moment..

Deactivate any plugins you may have installed that esp lightbox. It worked for me.When I deavtivated It did not only allow for cropping but also showed the right image after uploading(previously it used to turn black.)
