I couldn’t find any other mentions of this in the forum so not sure if it’s been discussed before, but how difficult might it be to have an (optional) audio alert (ping!) when a new notification appears in the toolbar?

I find this very useful on Facebook, if I’m off working on something else I immediately go to check it out, so it makes the site very ‘sticky’ as they used to say 🙂

I notice in the latest WP version (or one of the latest versions, 4.2 I think) there was some sort of audio function added but this was to do with screen readers. I don’t know anything about them so don’t know if this is useful for this case?

We don’t use audio much in web pages so I’m not sure if it’s a simple task or a complete pain…?

Interested in any thoughts on this from more knowledgeable folks 🙂
