Automatic registrations … spam

I recently started a Buddypress site and noticed more than 2000 members within 2-3 days. I have not even written a single post or promoted the website. They all look like spam.
Latest wordpress 3.04 and latest buddypress installed.
Akismet 2.5.1 activated.
Platinum SEO pack activated
Allow new registrations : Both sites and user accounts can be registered.

Can someone tell me how to prevent this.

This issue is one that has been discussed at length in various threads over the months here, and many approaches to tackling the issue are given.

Please do a search for these threads and have a detailed read through and implement a few of the suggestions they provide.

Try to put the plugin: si-captcha-for-wordpress, this works on buddypress.
