avatar first upload processing file

I want to develope a plugin that need to change the way that avaters are being uploaded.
In the register php file in the theme there is a form element that making the avatar upload with a file html tag.
My question is where this html file form element is being processed for the first time after the register.php (probebly with $_POST)?
