Avatars not displaying (after change of permalinks?)

    The avatars do not displaying, and they were a few days ago. All the other user information, such as activity and custom fields display. I changed the permalinks yesterday to include %category% and changed some Wordpesss SEO settings. I have confirmed the avators are in the wp-content/uploads/avatar directory and looking at the browser source code the.

    My site name WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL) are not the same.

    Any ideas?

    I noticed that changing the wordpress permalinks adds .htpasswd and .htaccess into the wp-content/uploads/avatars folder. Deleted these files and the images re appeared.

    Why would this be?
