Running WPMU 2.9.2 BP 1.2.2.1 backwards compatibility plugin 0.6

This problem is reproduced on clean installs with no other plugins and on upgrades

when attempting to use the classic theme (was default prior to BP 1.2) the “blog” will not show. Clicking “blog” button gives “The page you were looking for was not found.”

As BP 1.2 moved toward RC then release, I remember a change that might relate to this problem. For the 1.2 default theme, somewhere around the release candidate time, the setting governing whether the blog or the activity stream appeared as the front page, moved from a setting in the 1.2 default theme, to a setting under WP settings>reading. Could this have broken the classic theme which worked before that?
