Hi,

I’m building a Buddypress site in which pairs of users will interact on game-like collaborative tasks. The tasks have various media associated with them.

I began by implementing these tasks as standard WordPress custom post types. This seems to work ok, but I ran into complications when I wanted to add buddypress notifications, for example when a user is invited to a task by another user. I’m still not sure how to hook a notification to a custom post type.

This led me to think about implementing these tasks as custom Buddypress components, and I’ve been looking into how to do that.

Before I get too far down the rabbit hole I was hoping to get some feedback on pros and cons of either approach, or perhaps a combined approach. Thoughts on this would be much appreciated.
