Blank screen after I login

Many happy returns of the day.
I had a functioning BP setup for a few days. I managed to use a third party theme and everything was OK. Apart from not being able to link to news.
However, after changing and adding snippets of php to some template files, I am now unable to login. When I enter my login details I am presented with a blank screen and does not seem to re-direct. I am stuck in http://blogfred.com/wp-login.php
Another issue before this happened all of my site wide activity was lost??
I am considering a complete new install of WPMU and BP.
Has anybody had this problem?

The famous ‘white screen of death’ means that you should look at your apache error logs. PHP is crashing with a syntax error or some other critical err. Find that and fix it and you should be able to login again.

The error log you are looking at may or may not contain some info useful to you. That is an apache error log and sometimes php errors are sent to that log and sometimes not. Depends on how the server is setup.
The lovely WSOD is probably some kind of php error you aren’t seeing. Check back in when your friend gets back.
