Blocking members and IP's

    Hi people.

    Ive just had a new site created with a buddy press community and I really need some good blocking features.

    Ideally I want each individual member to be able to block another member from seeing/contacting/interacting with them.

    I would also like to be able to block members from the site and if possible block them by using their IP address to make it harder for them to join under another user name.

    I’m very new to BuddyPress/being a webmaster so hope these questions arent too dumb! Any help or advice would be appreciated.

    @tim_marston, the only plugin that i know which can do the major of your requirement is a premium plugin found here: http://www.philopress.com/products/buddyblock/

    If you’re using BP 1.7 then BuddyBlock will do exactly this:
    ” each individual member to be able to block another member from seeing/contacting/interacting with them”.

    Re IPs – there are some WordPress plugins that get IPs for posts and comments.
    But the best way is to get the IP when a user registers and store it in the usermeta table.
    That would probably require some custom code.
    Then use htaccess to block that IP if necessary.

    Thanks @shanebp, @funmi-omoba, I really appreciate your help, I will buy BuddyBlock and speak to my web builder about the custom code.
