Ok I have tried searching and searching and after not being able to find anything I have to ask is there a way to change the images for each blog? Right now they are just the funky colored shapes and its looks completely out of place.

I am sorry if I missed this topic already but I promise I have searched this site.

As far as I know, currently this is not possible. It is more a WPMU issue than a BuddyPress issue.

However, there is a future enhancement ticket in trac to provide this functionality via BP. I do not think it has high priority on Andy’s list, but you never know!

Until then, you could look into using this premium plugin.
