Hi im preatty new to the blog part, its there a way to put a blog page where logged in people can contribute to the blog but posting, kinda like the activity stream but with blogs, maybe sorta like tumblr? is there anything ever remotely close to it?

There’s a WordPress theme called P2:

It’s not compatible with BuddyPress though, however there is a fork of P2 (called P2 Reloaded) that reportedly supports BuddyPress:
http://p2reloaded.com/2011/07/3-0-beta-release/

I haven’t tested it myself.
