Bookbag/Cart Function

    Hi,

I am using Buddypress to create an archive and research environment for Caribbean scholars. I am trying to allow my user community to more easily add media files that we have published on our site to their individual media folders (provided by their buddypress accounts). In other words, a buddypress user would be able to add new media to their individual media folder from the font end of a “archive” / “item” page/post. (We are trying to workaround having them embed or redownload content from central media library to then reupload into individual libraries.) We are using buddyforms, but I cannot figure out how to implement/configure such a function/event as this. We have been tinkering with ecommerce plugins for their “shopping cart” function as an alternative, but they do not integrate well with buddypress. Does buddypress/buddyforms support this kind of functionality?

Any information or advice here would be awesome!

    Best,

    Ben

They are plugins who can do this, without having to use a cart system or e-commerce plugin.

Both are useable on BP profiles and have several settigns to allow different file format.
    See BuddyDrive or MediaPress.

    Thanks,

I don’t believe either of these actually support the action/event I’m looking to implement, however, though I may be failing to see this configuration.

I see they allow buddypress users to add their own media/galleries to library/post/page by uploading from personal computer through UI, but I’m actually looking to allow them to have the option to “add to my library” from media items we publish to front end of our central site. e.g., I am a user who encounters a media file on front-end of a page/post and I want to move that media file into my individual WP media library, specific to my buddypress account, without having to download and reupload.

Again, I understand I may not be being clear on what I’m looking for due to my lack of web dev knowledge/language.

    Thanks,

    Ben

Never heard about individual WP media library, specific to my buddypress account. By default, all authors can see others pictures when stored in the media library.

BuddyForms is a premium plugin, you probably will have more chance for answers by asking on ThemeKraft support.
