BP Template Pack – hows it get valid urls without set pages?

So, I’m debating whether to merge theme from wordpress=>bp, or otherway around. But, I don’t really understand how the template pack adds to wordpress, because it makes valid URL’s with buddypress extensions, but it doesn’t add pages. So, can I just add random .php files and that will work as a url extension.. or what?
