BuddyPress 1.7 Group Email Subscription

hi gurus,
how can I do this two things in buddypress 1.7 (wp 3.4.1)?:
1) email subscribe to the activity of a group (as a member)
2) make the email subscription ‘on’ as the default for all the members of a group (as the admin)The plugin “BuddyPress Group Email Subscription” seems to be compatible up to the 1.6.5 version (a bit different from 1.7), is it still valid or do you suggest other solutions/tricks?…
or did I miss something in the documentation?…Thanks
