Buddypress and Multisite – 2nd and successive sites
-
WP 3.5.1 and BP 1.6.4
I am installing a different theme for each of five (5) sites. Each them is 100% Buddypress ready. All is well with the first site “1” as I setup the Buddypress conversion of components to each WP page. Upon viewing the site, the Members, Groups, etc. all show appropriately on each of their pages.
I then create a second site “2”, having set the global (*) for subdomains and everything is going fine. I then apply a second BP theme “Y” to this Site “2”. When I then view this site “2”, I find no Members, Groups, Activities arranged in this Buddypress-ready site “2”.
Next I switch theme “X” with theme “Y”, “Y” activated now in Site “1” and, bazinga! Theme “Y” works just fine in Site “1” (this being, of course, the primary site). This suggests to me that the Buddypress components are site specific vs. theme specific. So, I trundle on over to each site and can find no solution to my problem at the site level.
If the problem has to do with the BP Template pack, WP doesn’t like to mix and match non-BP themes with BP themes meaning you have to turn off the template pack after using it to update non-BP themes. Since I am not using non-BP themes, I should be able to leave it on and select theme “Y” at site “2” by going through the BP Template pack, should I not? This problem feels like it is about 1″ away but…I need some help, please?
