BuddyPress field filter

    Hi there, I am using wordpress 4.1 and buddypress 2.1.1

    I have searched the forums and have found only extremely old posts on this topic with no apparent solution.

    Is there a way to filter searches based on user profile fields? For example, search based on the custom profile field: “location”? so that my users could see all other users that are in a certain city?

    Or a plugin that would do this?

    Any clues would be greatly appreciate,

    Is built-in !
    Once a field has content, this content becames clickable.

    User A – location: NYC
    User B – location: San Francisco
    User Y – location: NYC
    etc

    When a user click on NYC he will see a member list of A+Y
