BuddyPress Multisite: Upcoming WPMU Merge and Single Blog Support

    Hi,

I’ve read several threads over the last few months discussing how to implement a “one buddypress install per WPMU blog” type install, or some kind of multisite at least. This is something that we’ve also started to look into as the idea of using buddypress/wpmu in teaching has gained traction with our colleagues here…

I’ve seen several proposed methods of approaching this situation…and have had a few thoughts of my own…but before I look into it any further I was just wondering what people’s thoughts were on the impact of moving to WP3 and BuddyPress now supporting single blog installs. Is this intentionally/unintentionally paving the way for multisite/multiblog BuddyPress within WP3? Or will it at least make our lives easier?

I’m really just trying to get an idea of the way things are moving and what people’s thoughts are on this. If it’s a case of going it alone, that’s fine…and anything we mange to get working will of course be fed back here :)

Another thought I’ve just had is to use group/blog meta data based filtering and modification of the theme to display blogs/pages based on group membership (for students). Any thoughts?
