Buddypress themes, what first?

    @xevo

    Hi buddypress community,

Some already know that I’m working on buddypress themes, but most don’t know on how many I’m already working.

But since I’m probably gonna make most of my themes premium, I need to know what buddypress users desire the most, since I’m planning on making the first (maybe even 2) free.

    – Buddypress Parent (Modified to be faster and easier to use)

    – YouGo – preview of frontpage (unfinished)

    – Talkmore – preview of frontpage (unfinished)

    – Buddy.fm (A theme based on Last.fm)

    – Buddybook (A theme based on facebook)

    – Some other theme on your mind?

I’m most likely gonna do Buddypress Parent revamp. So I’m asking you guys what other theme you’d want to see free.

    Thanks,

    Xevo

    Hi Xevo!

I’m looking forward to try your “talkmore” theme. It looks very nice. Do you know, when you’ll be finished?

    Greetings

I really liked the vimeo theme. But I wouldn´t mind paying for it!

I would like to see a rework of the parent theme.. basically an “improved” parent theme which has a different layout, and is easier to customize. Now there are all kinds of css files etc.. So a simplified and cleaner parent theme to work from would be great.. Great work Xevo :)

I would like to see Talkmore theme to be released first. Hope to see one of them comes out soon!

I’ll start working on these when the new theme is released, which is soon. The first one I’m doing will be YouGo, Talkmore is gonna take a lot longer so that one will be released later.

Glad to see so people are interested in my themes. :)

ps. The buddypress parent revamp is dicontinued since Andy already made a big upgrade on the parent theme.

Xevo, any updates to your new themes?

YouGo is close to finishing, but since I’m already building it for the new buddypress 1.2 and basing it off the new default theme (which is changing all the time right now), I won’t release any theme till 1.2 is stable. Building a theme for Buddypress 1.1.3 right now would be a waste of time.

I also will rethink the buddybook theme, since the guys over at wpmu-dev already made a buddypress theme based of the facebook theme.

Sorry to the people that are waiting on these, you’ll have to wait a bit longer.

Both of those themes look really nice. Good job. I look forward to seeing the others.

You might wanna make the buddybook one a free theme, since currently there are no working free themes based off facebook.

@ Andrea: I’ll think about it, though if I choose to make it a free theme, I’ll release it somewhere in march (don’t have that much free time on my hands). :)

I second the buddybook theme. Afterall, when you think social media you think facebook and buddypress has much in common with it. The Wire, Groups, Activities.

    Yep. Buddybook will be great!

Just an update, decided to go through with the buddybook theme. Though, I’m wondering whether I should take out all blog functions and totally copy facebook right now. Any suggestions? (For example making the frontpage like facebook and not like a blog.)

Also, I just bought BPninja.com. This will be the site I will sell my themes on and do the rest of my buddypress blogging etc.

I vote for the facebook look and not a blog look. The main purpose is a social network, not a blog. People can create blogs for themselves, but the main selling point is social network.

    Just my thoughs

for me, a theme like behance or to give an important place to the galleries of images from each member.

Will probably need bp-album or bp-gallery from Buddydev if it comes one day :)

Ok, will go into that direction then. Sounded like the best option in my opinion as well.

    @gasparking

You mean the behance network website? And when Brajesh releases his bp gallery software for free, I’ll build in support for it in my themes. :)

How long do you think it’s going to take to finish your first template? Because your previews are looking great, can’t wait to test one.
