Can create blogs but the alias doesn’t work

I can create a blog on http://ma.nutwork.com.au/ (the site I’m developing) so I have a few questions.
It seems that when I create the blog that it is created. I get all the confirmation emails etc.
1. Why does the alias, which is given to me in my email, not work ? Do I need to set up something special on my server? http://stevebuddypress.ma.nutwork.com.au/
2. Although it says that the blog is created, how can I check? Should there be new entries in my database? Should there be new file on my server? This would be good to know for troubleshooting.
