Can I do this..

    Hi guys

I just I just installed WPmu & Buddypress and Im good to go.

Thing is Im not sure if what my client wants can be done with Buddypress.

    Here is what he wants:

Basically an advertising website where bands, actors etc can sign up and have there own page/blog where they advertise themselves, post links to videos/mps of themselves performing. They need to pay (via paypal) before they can sign up but possibly have the first month free.

KInd of like myspace but without the interaction, comments etc.

Also all members can post to a message board also although I dont see the point in this if they have their own pages, which i must mention to the client.

I dont need alot of the things in BP like private messages etc.

Is this all possible and any hints on getting started? I cant find a decent manual anywhere for BP.

    Any help much appreciated.

    John

Yes it’s possible but it will take some integrating with existing WordPress plugins to make it so. Best place to start with BP specific code is the codex; http://codex.buddypress.org

I’m trying to add a little to it everyday if I find the time, so it should keep getting more and more documented with code snippits and examples.

Thanks John, ill have a look at that.

Also, know of any way to add members (signup) without having to click on activation link as I have it installed on my local machine (via MAMP). Just for testing purposes.

    Cheers again for your help

You could add them via the wordpress admin, but you’ll still need to go back and edit their xprofile display name for them to be “visible” inside BuddyPress.

Johnegg – I made a plugin for that exact scenario. Its a wpmu manual member approve plugin.
