Can not post comments on activity feed

Hi All,
I am using the latest buddypress and latest wordpress. I know this used to work but doesn’t anymore.
I can’t post comments in the activity stream.. As in, if someone uploads a photo to their profile and it is shown on the activity stream there is a comment field but no post/update button.
The field is resizable in Google Chrome and has an up/down arrow in internet explorer.
Happy to provide login/pass details for anyone who wants to look?
