Can the profile setup be a voluntary, next step after the users sign up?

I am noticing that users prefer to sign up with just an email address and password and get registered before setting up a more elaborate profile.

Is there a way, or a plugin that would allow them to join in first. Kind of like facebook, you know?

No need for a plugin… just make your own copy of the registration template in your child theme and delete the optional fields. Or maybe even just use CSS to hide them.
