Can you help me track down my incorrect settings? BuddyPress half working

    Hi, I hope you can help me.

    I’m developing a site for a client that HAS to go live in 2 days time (Thursday 29th April 8.00pm GMT). I had the site on a temporary URL like this:

    http://–ip-number–/~name/

    On this temporary URL I set up WP MU and BuddyPress and developed the theme and tested everything as I went along. (the temporary URL was used as the main domain was pointing at a pre-existing holding page)

    I have now pointed the domain at the WP MU server now and with a little clever maintenance plugin work I have the site running but displaying the holding page still.

    Now the site works, all the pages I have added to the default blog display when you (turn off the maintenance plugin) view the site, I can add pages and posts and all the other stuff no problem,

    But I think I changed the Domain and Path incorrectly because now I can’t sign up new members. I can add a new blog in the admin, but when I try to view them it either defaults back to the main site index page or I get a blank page.

    I found that changing the Domain and Path in the main blog admin (number 1 in the blog list) caused an error page to appear so I had to dig about in the MySQL database to try and work out the proper settings. I also changed these settings in the wp-config file as well:

    $base = ‘/’;
    define(‘DOMAIN_CURRENT_SITE’, ‘www.domain.com’ );

    it did say something like:

    $base = ‘/~name/’;
    define(‘DOMAIN_CURRENT_SITE’, ‘–ip-number–‘ );

    The test accounts / blogs that I had set up have the old IP number settings, when I change them to what I think the new domain / path should be (in the admin) they don’t work anymore.

    So – I’m in a minor panic about it as I say this site has to go live in 2 days, promotion and advertising has happened to advertise the time and date so there’s no option to fail.

    I could do with some help real quick – if you think you can help me look over the settings and perhaps test I’d be very grateful, if I have to pay for a couple of hours of support time then so be it. Probably the best way to contact me is via skype: ianblackford

    I’ve moved sites from domain to domain before, but not IP to domain.

    If you export your MySQL database, open it in a text editor, do you find any references to the IP still? Those need updating too.

    I’m getting there with this now, but now I do a test register. I get the Fatal error page that has tried to look up /register/ in the blog table.

    Any ideas?
