Cannot activate buddypress – fatal error

I am using wp 2.7, I manually upload buddypress to plugins. when I try to activate I get Fatal error: Class ‘WP_Widget’ not found in ‘/home/clood/domains/cloodles.com/public_html/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-core/bp-core-widgets.php on line 13’

WP 2.7 !!

Upgrade! WP is on 3.04 now
