Cannot Crop Avatars

  • @thetheatreprof

The problem I’m running into is when I upload my avatars, I get a statement of “There was a problem cropping the group profile photo.” The files are indeed being uploaded, as there are folders with the images in them. But I cannot seem to crop them or have them show as my pic or my groups pic.

I have already attempted turning off all plugins and running the 2014 theme. I am running WordPress 4.1 and Buddypress 2.1.1. I’m hosted on Flywheel. My website address is http://www.thetheatreprofessor.com

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.

Did you use a one click installer from your host to install WordPress?

No. Flywheel is a WordPress specific hosting site, similar to WP Engine and Pressable. So they do all the initial setup on their end and then hand it over to me. Are there specific settings on the backend that I should ask them about?

not sure how they do the set up but sometimes if its an auto install of WP file permissions are off and the crop can break

Hello, I am having the same challenge. I cannot crop/upload a group avatar profile image. Switched from KLEO theme to 2014 and all plugins are off. Might there be other solutions? Thanks!

Hello, Per my previous post, I asked my host to see if the auto install of WP file permissions were off and to break the cropping. Per below, it looks as if I am missing a file or directory. Might someone be able to tell me how to recreate/add what seems to be missing. Thank you.

    FROM THE HOST:

Thank you for the provided information.

I have tried to debug the process and found the following in the log, right after the crop:
    Code:
    access(“/home/sitename/staging/2/wp-content/uploads http://staging2.sitename.us/wp-content/uploads/group-avatars/1/sgwhite-450×131.png”, F_OK) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or director y)

It seems the path for the file is incorrect when it tries to access the finished product.

I will try to debug some more, but it seems it is a problem with the plugin code rather than an issue with our environment.

It is best to approach the plugin developer regarding this issue.

    Best Regards,
    Technical Support Team
