change “My Account” link

We have created a custom members account page. Although we have added a custom “Welcome xyz_member” link to the admin bar, client would also like the top level “My Account” to direct to this page as well.
By default this links to activity. I can easily change it so that it links to with
    `define( ‘BP_DEFAULT_COMPONENT’, ‘profile’ );`
but I can’t figure out how to link this to the custom page and I really don’t want to create an entire custom menu just for one little link change.
    Any help?
    Thanks!

I’m confused, where is this my account link?

Sorry – didn’t explain that very well, too many hours messing with this.
I am referring to the “My Account” link in the top buddybar. The drop down has the profile, activity, etc links – those are fine. We just want to redirect the top “My Account” link to the custom page.

Is this something custom because BP 1.6+ doesnt have a “My Account” link?

No – it’s on 1.6.1 – we’re still using the buddybar – haven’t moved to the WP admin bar (looonnng story/difficult client)
Maybe that’s the problem? It’s not ideal, but I can edit the core file if needed. We’ll be changing this to the wp admin bar for future updates, but have a time issue at the moment.
