changing multisite to single WP site using BP

    Hi –
I have an old site running Buddypress Version 2.0.1
    on WP version 3.9.1. http://www.byronnow.com
I beleive that it was actually older but was updated a few months ago by a WP developer.

There are two things I would like to do.

    1) this is not essential, but I would like to make this a single WP site rather than a multisite, as I do not need the multisite functionality, and it seems to complicate things and sometimes cause problems.
(There is only one single site in the multisite installation.)

    2) Disable all old plugins, upgrade the WP core and Buddypress plugin whilst keeping my members and their posts etc. Then choose which plugins to use again from scratch.

I can do step two myself, but as to how to accomplish step one… I am totally out of my depth, as was a Filipino developer who worked for me.

Any help would be appreciated. Maybe pointing to a good tutorial might be enough to get me started if its not too technical and I dont come across unforeseen specific problems 🙂

Switching from multisite to normal flavour WordPress looks kind of complicated. I came across http://wpebooks.com/2010/09/how-to-enable-multisite-in-wordpress/ from a good source (see page 24 of the PDF).

Make backups of everything first. 🙂

Thanks – that looks worth a try.

One of my problems though that is making me want to go back to single site is that BackupBuddy wont backup the site properly.
Guess I will do a manual db backup before starting.

    Thanks ~
