Changing the “groups” Slug

    I know there’s a plugin to change the slugs on individual groups, but I’m looking to change the word “groups” in the URL of places like the group directory. For instance, I’d like the directory page’s URL to be

    http://www.riotcart.com/gangs/

    instead of

    http://www.riotcart.com/groups/

    I *think* I accomplished this for turning “blogs” into “shops” by adding a bit to my wp-config.php, but I tried adding the logical equivalent for groups, and it turned my group directory page into nothing but a comment reply form (?) I’ve already been though the language file to change the terminology everywhere else. So how would I change it in the URLs and the browser titles?

    add

    define (‘BP_GROUPS_SLUG’, ‘gangs’);

    To bp-custom.php file in your plugins folder

    Well I feel stupid now. I had added that exact line before I posted the thread here, but was refreshing http://www.riotcart.com/groups/

    LOL!

    OK, that was kind of a fail. I’m not sure why, but it made some links to individual groups completely break :/

    Coding links into theme HTML with component slugs you use this:

    `<a href="//group-name-here” title=””>`

    You shouldn’t use http://url.com/groups/blahblah

    Also, if you are using cache you may need to renew it.

    Meh, it’s OK for now to let the URLs remain “groups”. Thanks though, I wouldn’t have thought to look at templates :)
